• Refrain from words, actions and behaviour – in any medium -- that demonstrate disrespect for other Members, volunteers, foster and or adoptive families, or the family members of such individuals.
• Uphold Chatham Kent Animal Rescue’s reputation and integrity by ensuring that their conduct, whether in person, online, or otherwise, brings honour and dignity to Chatham Kent Animal Rescue.
• Be vigilant in ensuring an environment that is safe and protects our rescued animals and all members, volunteers, adoptive and foster families from emotional, physical, verbal and sexual abuse.
• Respect other Members’, volunteers’, fosters and adoptive families’ rights to privacy and the confidentiality of their personal information.
• Act with honesty and integrity when dealing with property, monies and any other assets belonging to Chatham Kent Animal Rescue.
• Respect and abide by the rules of our sponsored events and respect the event attendees where applicable.
• Treat all members, volunteers, foster and adoptive families or the family members of such individuals fairly, knowing that Chatham Kent Animal Rescue does not tolerate unlawful discrimination on the basis of race, national or ethnic origin, citizenship, colour, religion, sex, age, mental or physical ability, political beliefs, socio-economic status, health-related status, sexual orientation, marital status, or any other grounds enumerated in the human rights legislation of the jurisdiction in which the individuals involved are located.

However, any material failure to comply with these standards will be sufficient grounds for disciplinary action up to and including termination of the individual from their volunteer position.

I am interested in serving as a volunteer for Chatham Kent Animal Rescue. I will hold Chatham Kent Animal Rescue harmless if I incur an injury while working as a volunteer.

The undersigned volunteer (the “Volunteer”) realizes that Chatham Kent Animal Rescue believes in the humane solution for homeless pets and is dedicated to rescuing and saving the lives of pets in imminent danger, and to the spaying, neutering and adoption of homeless animals.

1. 1. Volunteer assumes full responsibility for any and all injuries Volunteer may sustain while serving as a volunteer at the Chatham Kent Animal Rescue or with respect to Chatham Kent Animal Rescue activities.
2. 2. Volunteer assumes full responsibility for any and all medical costs associated with injuries sustained as a Volunteer of Chatham Kent Animal Rescue, subject to coverage under any medical insurance carried by Volunteer personally or by Volunteers employer.
3. 3. The undersigned has/has not (strike one) medical insurance provided by the Volunteer or Volunteers employer. If Volunteer has indicated that the Volunteer has medical insurance, Volunteer agrees to provide a certificate of such medical insurance to Chatham Kent Animal Rescue upon request.
4. 4. Volunteer hereby releases Chatham Kent Animal Rescue from any all claims for personal injuries while a Volunteer with Chatham Kent Animal Rescue or while performing volunteer activities.
5. 5. REMINDER: you must be 18 years old to volunteer. Anyone under the age of 18, must be accompanied by their parent or guardian when performing service hours at all times.

As a volunteer with Chatham Kent Animal Rescue, I also agree to the following terms and conditions, intending to be legally bound by them:

1. 1. I will abide by the mission, rules, policies and programs of Chatham Kent Animal Rescue while I am a volunteer.
2. 2. If I stop being a volunteer for Chatham Kent Animal Rescue for any reason, or upon the Rescue’s request at any time, I will promptly return all of the Rescue’s supplies, equipment, records, moneys, and other items in good clean condition. I also understand that any documents I may create during my time with CK Animal Rescue will remain the property of CK Animal Rescue. I give up all rights of ownership.
3. 3. I assume the risks of being bitten, scratched, injured, or frightened by cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies in connection with my volunteer work for Chatham Kent Animal Rescue. Chatham Kent Animal Rescue is not liable to me for any injuries, damages, liabilities, losses, judgments, costs or expenses whatsoever, which I might suffer or sustain in connection with the performance of my volunteer activities for the Rescue. I will indemnify, defend and hold Chatham Kent Animal Rescue harmless from and against any claims, lawsuits, injuries, damages, losses, costs or expenses whatsoever, sustained by any companion animal or any person in connection with my intentional misconduct or grossly negligent performance of volunteer activities for Chatham Kent Animal Rescue, or my breach of the Rescue’s rules, regulations, policies and programs.
4. 4. I understand and agree that the Rescue may refuse volunteer applications for any reason.
5. 5. If I will be sheltering or providing foster care or boarding any of Chatham Kent Animal Rescue’s animals in my home or business, I consent to representatives of Chatham Kent Animal Rescue visiting my home or business from time to time to observe the animals and their living quarters.
6. 6. I have accurately and truthfully completed this Volunteer Application and Agreement.
7. 7. Any modification to this Agreement must be in writing signed by both parties. This Agreement is binding upon Chatham Kent Animal Rescue, me, and the Rescue’s and my respective heirs, successors, assigns, executors, and personal representatives.

This agreement applies to all volunteers associated with and/or involved in the activities or affairs of Chatham Kent Animal Rescue. This includes all activity associated with Chatham Kent Animal Rescue at its main office and all indoor/outdoor activities.

All data, materials, knowledge and information generated through, originating from, or having to do with Chatham Kent Animal Rescue or persons associated with our activities is to be considered privileged and confidential and is not to be disclosed to any third party. All pages, forms, information, designs, documents, printed matter, policies and procedures, conversations, messages (received or transmitted), resources, contacts, e-mail lists, e-mail messages, clients, members or public information is confidential and the sole property of Chatham Kent Animal Rescue.

This also includes, but is not limited to, any information of, or relating to, our members, clients, operations and activities. This privilege extends to all forms and formats in which the information is maintained and stored, including, but not limited to hardcopy, photocopy, microform, automated and/or electronic form.

Client information, including all file information, is not be disclosed to any third party, under any circumstances, without the consent of the Chatham Kent Animal Rescue member that is supervising you and the Volunteer Coordinator.

Any disclosure, misuse, copying or transmitting of any material, data or information, whether intentional or unintentional, will subject you to disciplinary action and/or prosecution, according to the procedures set by Chatham Kent Animal Rescue and any applicable laws.
